Parent Communication
Communication at Little Learners is built on trust, warmth and collaboration. We believe strong communication between home and nursery is essential. When families and staff work closely together, children feel secure, understood and ready to learn. We are committed to keeping parents fully informed, involved and connected throughout their child’s time with us. Together, we create the best possible start for every child.
Sharing learning through Famly
We use the Famly app as our main platform for sharing your child’s learning and day‑to‑day experiences. Through Famly, you will receive:
- Photos and videos of your child’s play and achievements
- Observations linked to the Early Years curriculum
- Updates from your child’s key person
Famly helps you feel part of your child’s nursery journey, even when you’re not with them.
Letters, emails and updates through Arbor
We use Arbor to send letters, emails, event information, reminders, important notices and payments (including lunches). This ensures families receive clear, timely communication about everything happening across the nursery and wider school.
Pupil information
Your Arbor app will allow you to see the information we hold on your child at nursery – ranging from their name & date of birth to medical information & photo permissions. Within the app, you are able to keep the nursery updated on all this sort of information.
Communication
The Arbor app has a built-in messaging service, complete with push notifications. For example, if we need to send a short message, you will receive an in-app notification. If we publish a letter or newsletter to you, we will send a website link via the in-app notification and you will receive a copy in your emails.
Parents’ evenings
Arbor will be the portal we use to enable you to book slots for Parents’ Evenings when they are scheduled in the Autumn and Spring terms.
Meetings and check ins throughout the year
We offer a range of opportunities for parents to meet with staff, discuss progress and share information.
Parents’ Evenings (Twice Yearly)
You will meet with your child’s key person to discuss:
- Progress
- Next steps
- Strengths and interests
- How we can work together to support learning
Transition & end‑of‑year reports
At the end of the nursery year, families receive a detailed report summarising:
- Learning and development
- Personal, social and emotional growth
- Communication and language progress
- School readiness
2‑year progress check
For children aged 2–3, we complete the statutory 2‑year progress check, which highlights strengths and identifies any areas where additional support may be helpful. This is shared and discussed with parents.
My Plan review meetings
For children receiving additional support, we hold regular My Plan review meetings to monitor progress, update targets and ensure strategies are working effectively.
TAC and TAF meetings
Where needed, we work with families and external professionals through Team Around the Child (TAC) or Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings. These ensure everyone involved is working together to support the child’s needs.
Open‑door policy
We pride ourselves on being approachable and available. Our open‑door policy means parents are always welcome to speak to us about any concerns, questions, routines, behavior and well-being. You’ll always find friendly faces on the door at drop‑off and pick‑up, ready to chat, reassure and share updates.
